Profile Explained
Starting in front of Paradise Inn, or the stone steps left of the restrooms, the first .5 mile of paved trail climbs steeply around the west side of Alta Vista. Beyond the blacktop the trail continues to climb to the magnificent views at Panorama Point. From the point the trail rises another 200 feet and crosses above a steep snowfield before descending to the Golden Gate Trail junction(which can be used as a shorter alternative to Paradise). From here the trail continues an to another junction near the Stevens Van Trump Memorial. Taking the right fork toward Myrtle Falls leads to .5 mile of paved trail and the return to Paradise.
